Hi – my name is Charlie Obert. I have been a student of philosophy for most of my life, studying the Perennial Philosophy which I am convinced underlies all of the world’s great spiritual and philosophical traditions. Currently I am re-acquainting myself with the roots of our Western culture in the writings of Plato and other philosophers in the Platonist tradition, especially Proclus, Plotinus and Iamblichus. I am a student and admirer of the great English Platonist and translator, Thomas Taylor.
Other influences include, H. P. Blavatsky, Jane Roberts and the Seth Material, Aleister Crowley, Sri Aurobindo, Schopenhauer, Oswald Spengler, Vivekananda… I’m not bored.
You are welcome to join me as I think out loud here about how philosophy can shed light on the dilemmas we face in our modern world.
I welcome your thoughts and comments. You can also contact me at, charlie at studentofphilosophy dot com.
